Michelle Obama Wows in a $30 Gap Dress

Continuing her streak of wallet-friendly fashion, Michelle Obama left for Camp David on Friday with the President wearing a bright blue dress from the Gap. The Huffington Post reported the $29.99 “Impressionist Print Draped Dress” that the First Lady wore as a tunic over crisp white pants was available on Gap.com, but it is now listed as “out of stock.”

Mrs. Obama first made a splash in the frugal fashion world when she appeared on “The Tonight Show” in October 2008 wearing a sunny J. Crew outfit. The price tag? A mere $340,  compared to Sarah Palin’s infamous $150,000 wardrobe scandal at that time.

“Actually, this is a J. Crew ensemble,” she said of her yellow sweater, skirt and blouse ensemble. “You can get some good stuff online.”

The day after Michelle Obama’s “Tonight Show” appearance, traffic on the J. Crew website spiked 64%, according to Time, and each of the three pieces she wore sold out.

She’s also been spotted in H&M, Target, White House Black Market and Talbots.
