Chances are you’re an “Xtreme Eater” and don’t even know it.
Thought you were making a healthier choice by sitting down to dine on The Cheesecake Factory’s Farmhouse Cheeseburger instead ordering a McDonald’s Quarter Pounder from the drive-thru? Wrong! Chowing down on the Farmhouse Cheeseburger is actually the same as eating three McDonald’s Quarter Pounders with cheese and four if you plan on eating French fries.
The burger is topped with grilled smoked pork belly, cheddar cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo and a fried egg and boasts 1,530 calories, 36 grams of saturated fat and 3,210 milligrams of sodium.
The Center for Science in the Public Interests (CSPI), that conducted the study, points out that the average person should limit themselves to about 2,000 calories, 20 grams of saturated fat, and 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day.
“It’s as if the restaurants were targeting the remaining one out of three Americans who are still normal weight in order to boost their risk of obesity, diabetes, heart attacks, and cancer,” said CSPI nutrition director Bonnie Liebman.
Still craving something sweet? Adding The Cheesecake Factory Ultimate Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake to the mix will cost you another 1,540 calories and 59 grams of saturated fat. That’s about the same as one Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pepperoni Pizza and two Quarter Pounders with cheese.
