Here we are ladies, moving further and further into March, and as the clock ticks away new and truly fabulous clothes are being released every single day. Most are drool-worthy, which is inspiring as it will make it much easier to avoid confusion and purchase the “misses” for the season. Outside playing luck of the draw when deciding what to purchase (never a safe bet), it’s time we hit on part two of our spring trends coverage. While part one had a heavy focus on bows and beautiful shades of jade and mint, this round’s focus is all about the feminine delicacies of spring. The pieces that leave you feeling simply beautiful, as if floating on air is no longer optional.

Beginning with lace…such a sexy material. Demure with hints of skin here and there, it’s the perfect wardrobe main staple as the weather warms up. While black lace is most certainly sexy, white lace…that’s a different style beast entirely. White lace signifies elegance and beauty, and it’s hidden undertone is the sexy factor. While it is most certainly easy to be overtly sexy, and even cross the line and go too far with the notion, sexiness that doesn’t smack you in the face should most certainly be your goal this spring. Sandro’s Eden Lace top is a most beautiful example of understated sexiness. All white lace with a large keyhole in the back to show just a little more skin that you would expect, this top is the perfect example of what to look to when searching for lace this season. But ladies, be on your guard with this trend, as it is literally on every website, and done oh-so wrong in so many areas. If you don’t look at your lace top and have feelings evoked of beautiful-classy-sexy, all with a sense of “OMG…I’m obsessed,” drop the piece just as quickly as you found it and keep looking!

This next trend may throw you for a loop, but keep an open mind here. Tweed is the go-to texture for spring. Yes, I know we most certainly expect to see tweed in the fall and winter months, but designers are giving us a lightweight version of tweed that is proving to be a year-round investment. I have to be honest and say that in the past I have very much limited how much money I will invest in tweed. I’m never a fan of any piece that holds a six month limitation due to season. It’s like saying I can only eat chocolate in the winter. Excuse me? I think not! It’s all about being able to wear what you love year-round, with nothing standing in your way. Keep that same principle in mind with your clothing, and with the types of tweed you purchase. It is key to focus on tweed that doesn’t feel limited by the season, such as grey tweed pants. In addition, purchasing tweed that is lightly lined, and doesn’t feel heavy when wearing, are characteristics to look for in your search. Tory Burch released an amazing example in her resort collection, that is most definitely transitioning beautifully into spring and year-round for that matter. Her Emma Tweed Pants (just so happen to be on sale right now) are what you want to look to for inspiration in the tweed department. Another great example is J.Crew’s Tweed Front Top, which features a lightweight tweed front, but soft cotton back to ensure you stay extra cool as the weather warms up.

In the warmer months, if you do nothing else, understand that it is ALL ABOUT a graphic tee! Graphic tees are one of the most crucial investments you will ever make in your wardrobe because they serve two main causes: 1. The dress up-down factor 2. Personality. In your wardrobe, you must own pieces that you can pair with dress pants and a blazer, and then switch out and pair with jeans and a fab scarf. The graphic tees are essentially any jersey cotton top that offers some type of personality on the front, which hits on the second cause. Your clothing should be a reflection of your personality. You NEED tops that speak to who you are and the things that make up your personality. Fun tops that say anything from “Where’s my coffee” to “I love New York” are fun, simple, and truly fabulous. Keep this trend at the forefront of your mind as you make your way into spring fashion!
