When last we left Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man), our hero nearly died while saving New York City from an other-worldly invasion in “The Avengers.” Today, we’re getting a first look at where the story picks up.
In the first trailer for “Iron Man 3,” which opens on May 3, Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) confesses that his battle with the Avengers has left him damaged and paranoid, fearful of the people who want to kill him and concerned that he won’t be able to protect his girlfriend, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).
As the video continues, we catch a glimpse of actor Guy Pearce as geneticist Alrich Killian, see the return of (presumably) Don Cheadle as the newly patriotic War Machine and, most importantly, get our first look at Sir Ben Kingsley as the terrorist villain The Mandarin.
While director Shane Black‘s first trailer raises more questions than answers, it’s an exciting preview of things to come. Check out the video below.
