An Australian teen ran into trouble recently when a pair of thieves happened upon a Facebook post they liked a little too much.
The Sydney girl made the mistake of posting a photo to her public account showing a large stash of cash.
The BBC reports that the image was the motive behind a home invasion that left the girl’s mother shaken up after two masked men armed with a knife and club demanded cash.
But it turns out that the Facebook-hatched scheme didn’t quite pan out in the real world – the girl no longer lived with her mother and the bandits had to settle for a small amount of cash and a few personal items, the BBC reports.
Police were unsure how the men determined where the girl used to live. The incident led authorities in Australia to issue a warning against posting crime-tempting images to social media sites.
