Britney Spears’ ex-husband, childhood friend Jason Alexander, is calling the pop star’s recent engagement a fake.

“I know everyone wants me to be happy about this, but I am not,” Alexander, who was married to Spears for 55 hours in 2004 following a whirlwind Vegas wedding, told Us Weekly.

He added, “I think it’s fake and I think people are afraid to say it.”

Spears announced her engagement to Jason Trawick on December 16, her former manager.

The pair ended their professional relationship in 2010 in order to start dating.

Britney tweeted about the good news following a celebratory party with family and friends.

“Tonight was one of the most magical nights of my life,” she said. “Such an amazing time with my new fiancé and our closest friends and family. #Blessed.”

But Alexander isn’t buying it.

“If you look at all the pictures between them there is no connection,” he said. “They look like they are going through the motions.  It seems like a answer to the court thing.”

Spears is still under the conservatorship of her father Jamie, raising questions about whether or not his permission is needed for her to marry.

Sort of a nice way to sew it all up she marries her handler,” Alexander sniped. “That way she always has someone controlling her. It’s sort of sad.”
