After being struck by a car in New York City on Tuesday, comedic actor Michael McKean was hospitalized for a broken leg and facial lacerations.

Today reports that a car jumped a curb on the Upper West Side, hitting the “Laverne and Shirley” star and sending him to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital for treatment.

Known for his memorable role as David St. Hubbins in the mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap,” McKean is currently starring in “The Best Man” on Broadway.

His rep told TheWrap.com he’s doing “fine,” but due to his injuries would be unable to perform Tuesday night’s show.

McKean’s rep also said that this absence marks the first time in the actor’s career, which includes roles in Broadway shows “Hairspray” and “The Homecoming,” that he has missed a performance.
