Meg Ryan just sold her Bel Air mansion for $11.1 million, and some are speculating that it may have something to do with boyfriend John Mellencamp.
The two announced their relationship last January, shortly after Mellencamp, 60, went public with his divorce.
Ryan’s been wearing a silver band on her left ring finger since last year, which already had people talking about possible nuptials. And now that the “When Harry Met Sally” star sold her home, the pair has everyone guessing where they’re headed.
“Selling a home is generally a guide that there is some big change in a celebrity’s life,” Popeater columnist Rob Shuter told ABCNews.com.
Neither star’s rep commented on the reports.
If the two are setting up a life together, it probably won’t be on the West Coast. Mellencamp’s rep said earlier this year that he and ex-wife Elaine Irwin plan to stay in Indiana—Mellencamp’s home state—where they’ll “continue to raise their children.”
“It’s not the media capital of the world,” Shuter said. “It’s a place where [Ryan and Mellencamp] can have a private relationship.”
Ryan hasn’t gotten serious with anyone since her split with Dennis Quaid in 2001. According to Shuter, Mellencamp is just the guy for her.
“She likes these guys who are a little rugged, not clean-shaven and they certainly don’t moisturize,” he said.
Ryan’s major home sale could also be the foundation for a new beginning. It’s no secret the star’s career has been in a lull—her last starring role was in the unsuccessful 2009 film “Serious Moonlight”—but she’s slated to star alongside John Lithgow and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in “Lives of the Saints” later this year.
“It’s always hard for a former ‘it girl.’ Trying to go back is never good,” Shuter said. “Everybody loves Meg, but I don’t know if her audience will be able to move on from that pretty girl in ‘Sleepless in Seattle.’ ”
