George Wendt’s acting plans have been derailed. He has been forced to leave the cast of Northlight Theatre’s “Odd Couple” for medical reasons. The “Cheers”actor was checked into the hospital with chest pains Sunday night, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Wendt “is getting medical attention and will eventually make a full recovery,” stated theater executive director Timothy Evans.
Most known for his role as Norm on “Cheers,” Wendt’s previous theater performances include “Hairspray” and “Elf the Musical.”
Wendt was scheduled to co-star with Tim Kazurinsky as Oscar and Felix. His role as Oscar will be filled by Marc Grapey. Grapey was previously scheduled to play Murray in the “Odd Couple” production.
Opening night for “Odd Couple” will go on as scheduled for November 9th.
