Singer Randy Travis has decided to clean up his act. The 53-year-old has quit drinking according to a Rolling Stone article.
Randy has “eliminated alcohol from his daily life,” and plans to focus on his health, says his lawyer Larry Friedman. “He’s in the best shape of his life.”
In addition to putting down the bottle, Travis has picked up the weights. According to Rolling Stone, the American Music Award winner has been working out for three hours a day. Vitamins have also been added to his diet.
Travis’ decision to quit drinking comes on the heels of two arrests in 2012. So far this year, the country star was busted for public intoxication as well as driving under the influence.
He also made headlines by wrecking his car and entering a convenience store completely naked.
There is no official word on what’s next for his singing career. Travis’ lawyer, Friedman, does believe that he is eager to record new music.
Travis appeared to be in good shape when he performed with the Avett Brothers last month for a CMT Crossroads taping. He also performed for the Texas Wounded Warriors Foundation in October.
It’s looking like Randy Travis is changing his life for the better. We wish him all the best with his newfound sobriety.
