Michael Douglas has quickly dispelled rumors that he and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones have broken up, according to the New York Post.
The speculation began when the National Enquirer ran a headline that the couple were calling it quits. The story went on to claim that Catherine Zeta-Jones was “desperate” to save their 12-year marriage amid her struggles with bipolar disorder and Douglas’ battle with throat cancer, which he claims he beat in 2011.
A representative for the “Wall Street” star told the New York Post that the reports from the tabloid are false. Recently, Douglas shared with People magazine that, “Catherine and I are doing well. She is more beautiful than ever inside and out. I support her with everything and she is simply the best.”
The couple have two children together, 12-year-old Dylan and nine-year-old Carys. Their family has faced troubled times recently. In December, Douglas’ son Cameron was brutally attacked in prison while serving a 9 ½ year sentence for selling drugs.
Despite reports, the couple shows no signs of separation. The 68-year-old Douglas was seen holding hands with his 43-year-old wife on January 31 at the New York premiere of her film “Side Effects.”
