When Taylor Swift goes shopping, apparently she doesn’t need to carry credit cards. TMZ is reporting the pop princess just snapped up a new mansion in Rhode Island, and she paid the $17.75-million price tag in cold, hard cash.
The Grammy-winning songstress was first spotted scoping out the 11,000-plus-square-foot mansion on April 15th. Now she has reportedly sealed the deal for $2.25 million short of the original asking price. Swift wired over the cash and had movers on the premises the same day, according to TMZ’s source.
Although this isn’t the first home that Swift has purchased, it is not as controversial as her previous real estate venture.
Last year the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer decided to spend $4.8 million on a Cape Cod home across the street from her boyfriend at the time, Conor Kennedy. Not long after calling it quits with the son of Robert Kennedy Jr., Swift sold the house for a $875,000 profit.
Swift told Vanity Fair last month, ”People say that about me, that I apparently buy houses near every boy I like – that’s a thing that I apparently do. If I like you I will apparently buy up the real-estate market just to freak you out so you leave me.” There are no reports of Swift having a more-than-friendly neighbor near her new home.
