Update: TMZ reports that a judge has granted Amanda Bynes’ parents a temporary conservatorship over their troubled daughter.

The decision comes after the judge reviewed the findings of an official investigator tasked with evaluating the actresses’ mental health.

Original Story: Amanda Bynes won’t be leaving the hospital anytime soon.

The troubled actress, who was institutionalized last month for setting fire to an innocent woman’s driveway, has been placed under an extended, 30-day involuntary psychiatric hold.

Bynes is being treated at the Hillmont Psychiatric Center in Ventura, California for signs of schizophrenia, reports the New York Daily News.

According to TMZ, doctors reportedly feel that Bynes is not mentally fit to attend a court hearing today that will decide whether or not her parents will gain a temporary conservatorship over her.

A judge was called to the hospital for an emergency hearing, where it was determined that the 27-year-old actress is to remain under doctors’ care for an additional 30 days.

California law mandates that a patient must be “gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder” in order for a judge to enact this extended hold.

Despite this recent development, the starlet’s parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes, are still scheduled to appear in court later today to request a temporary conservatorship over their daughter. If granted, they will be responsible for her finances and general well-being through September 30.

Singer Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears was granted a similar conservatorship over the pop star in 2008 following a string of bizarre events.
