Marriage isn’t an easy thing to walk away from, and Clint Eastwood’s wife can agree. After she filed for a divorce from the 83-year-old actor on September 9th, Dina Eastwood dismissed their legal separation just two days later, according to Us Weekly.
The September split wasn’t the first time that the couple, married for 17 years, had gone their separate ways. A similar breakup occurred in June of 2012. While the two remained friendly, an Us Weekly source reported, “Clint fell out of love with Dina a long time ago.”
The now-retracted court filings from September 9th include a request for spousal support as well as custody of the couple’s only child, 16-year-old daughter Morgan. Dina’s request also included a statement that a premarital agreement would be executed which included the division of property.
Clint Eastwood hasn’t commented on Dina’s court documents, but actions speak louder than words. The “Dirty Harry” star was spotted with his new girlfriend, Erica Tomlinson-Fisher, on the same day that Dina had a change of heart about the split.
Reports are swirling that Clint Eastwood’s new relationship is part of an unintended wife swap. His new girlfriend was married to Dina’s friend, University of Hawaii basketball coach Scott Fisher, for 33 years. According to an Us Weekly source, “After Scott and Erica divorced, Erica was sure Scott was romancing Dina. Erica called Clint’s office last February to discuss her suspicions — then he fell for her!” It is also rumored that Dina and Scott have been dating since his 2012 divorce.
Despite all the turmoil, Dina has nothing but kind words to say about her husband. After the separation news went public, she tweeted, “I don’t like reading negative things about Clint. He is a wonderful, good natured, brilliant person. No matter what, I attest to that.”
