Singer Robin Thicke is reportedly taking his plea for wedded forgiveness to primetime television.
Thicke and actress Paula Patton announced their separation in late February, but according to a TMZ report, the “Blurred Lines” crooner has penned a song especially for his estranged wife, and plans to debut it Sunday night at the Billboard Music Awards.
The celebrity gossip site claims the song is entitled “Get Her Back” (subtle, right?) and includes lyrics such as “All I Wanna do is make it right,” “I gotta get her, go get her back / I gotta treat her right / I gotta cherish her for life” and “I should’ve kissed you longer / I should’ve held you stronger / And I’ll wait for forever for you.”
Thicke, 37, and Patton, 38, split amid rumors that the “Precious” star was fed up with her hubby’s playboy ways, including his infamous MTV Video Music Awards performance with Miley Cyrus, despite the fact that she publicly claimed to be fine with it. And since then, Thicke has made several remarks about trying to repair their 9-year marriage.
Three days after announcing the split, Thicke was caught on camera proclaiming, “I’m just trying to get her back.” A few days after that, the singer told a crowd at a Virginia concert, “For y’all that don’t know, me and my wife separated, but I’m trying to get my girl back. She’s a good woman.” And a few weeks after that, he told his Madison Square Garden audience, “We gotta learn to forgive each other, learn to love each other.”
Thicke and Patton began dating in 1991, when they were just teenagers, and finally wed in 2005. They share one son, Julian, who was born in 2010.
