There’s a Huge Mistake in This ‘Downton Abbey’ Press Photo

Is Lord Grantham investing in the plastics industry for season 5 of “Downton Abbey“?

While it would certainly solve the Crawley family’s persistent financial problems, the plastic water bottle that snuck its way into this newly released press photo for the hit PBS series appears in the shot by accident. Probably.

The photo, which features a dapper Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville), an elegant Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) and a plastic water bottle perched upon the manor’s fireplace mantle, was included in a gallery of photos that debuted on the series’ official Twitter page to promote the January 4, 2015 season premiere. The photo has since been removed.

Yes, plastic did exist during the 1920s time period in which “Downton Abbey” takes place, but commercially produced water bottles were still decades away.
