Singer Barry Manilow and his longtime manager Garry Kief shocked dozens of lunch guests with a surprise wedding ceremony at their Palm Springs home last year.
And now that the “Copacabana” singer’s secret is out, more details of the private event are emerging, including the TV actress who served as Manilow’s “best man”: Suzanne Somers.
According to reports by the Washington Post and New York Post, the 68-year-old “Three’s Company” star was by Barry’s side as his personal assistant performed the commitment ceremony. Manilow and Kief reportedly chose not to file official paperwork for fear that news of the nuptials would leak, but they are both wearing wedding bands.
“[Barry’s] at a point now where he’s got his career and personal life in a great place and he really doesn’t care what people think,” a source confirming the wedding told People magazine. “He’s in love and happy.”
This is Manilow’s second marriage. He was previously married to his high-school girlfriend Susan Deixler in the early 1960s, but the union reportedly ended in an annulment.
