Online Pawn Shop Mocks Wes Welker

Wes Welker’s drop has been a topic of discussion since the Patriots fell to the underdog Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. The normally sure-handed Welker accepted full blame for the drop after the game. Tom Brady remained supportive. His wife Gisele, meanwhile, was less kind.

And then today, as the New York Giants were parading down Broadway before thousands of ogling fans, Denver-based online pawn shop Pawngo was up to something in Boston’s Copley Square.

“Hey Boston…” Pawngo tweeted on Tuesday, “watch out for a sweet surprise this afternoon.”

That something turned out to be 900 pounds of Nestle Butterfingers and a small sign that read, “Thank You Wes Welker – Pawngo.”

Panwgo actually sent out a press release with this accompanying pic, which was passed along to me by our news editor.

“While Giants fans celebrated their victory at the Parade in New York City – Boston locals got a 900 pound sweet surprise courtesy of Pawngo in the center of Copley Square in the heart of Boston.  900 pounds, or 8,000 bars of Nestle Butterfingers were piled high with a sign entitled, “Thank you Wes Welker” – making everyone in the area stop to take pictures, grab a bar, and have a laugh.”

Oh the mockery… even if it feels like junior high all over again.
