New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has a new plan for victory over the New England Patriots this coming weekend: Do nothing.

That’s the advice he passed along in a team meeting with players, especially when it came to their chores around the house.

Newly signed receiver and kick returner Josh Cribbs leaked Ryan’s plans to the Daily News on Wednesday, saying that the coach told his team he wanted them as well-rested as possible for Sunday’s face-off with their longtime rivals.

“He was like, ‘Rest your legs. You go home, don’t do nothing for your wife. Say, “Baby, next week,”‘” Cribbs related. “’I’ll take the kids to practice next week, but I’ve got to rest for this game.’”

Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson suggested that Ryan’s orders applied to one other key area of Jets players’ lives: bedroom activities. As in, don’t have any.

“I’m going to tell him to put it on paper,” Richardson told the Daily News, “so when I give [the note] to my wife, I can be like, ‘Rex said that I don’t got to take out the trash.’ So he might get a call.”

Whether Ryan’s abstinence strategy pays off for New York this weekend remains to be seen. For the sake of the players’ wives, let’s hope it doesn’t.
