Camping World 500 Highlights and Analysis

FINAL: Ryan Newman takes the checkered flag at Phoenix in overtime. Kyle Busch blows late-race lead to give the No. 31 the victory. It’s Newman’s first Cup Series win since 2013.

Lap 312 (6:46pm ET): We’re headed to overtime folks!

Lap 307 (6:44pm ET): Logano gets loose into the wall after loosing a tire. And then Kyle Busch gets caught speeding on pit road. These two just keep stealing the headlines!

Lap 287 (6:35pm ET): Busch battling Larson for the win with under 25 laps to go. After being bloodied in fight at Las Vegas last weekend, the No. 18 looks poised for a checkered at Phoenix.

Lap 272 (6:26pm ET): More trouble for Dale Jr. in what is turning out to be a nightmare start to the season for the 88.

Lap 230 (6:03pm ET): It’s worth noting that Kevin Harvick has won five of the past seven Cup Series races at Phoenix. Here he comes!

Lap 112 (5:52pm ET): Kyle Busch bouncing back from a disappointing finish at Vegas last weekend.

Lap 205 (5:46pm ET): The Camping World 500 is turning into the Demolition Derby 500 real quick.

Lap 190 (5:37pm ET): Matt Kenseth loses a tire and gets into the wall. Tough year continues for No. 20, but thankfully, he walked away from this one OK.

Lap 175 (5:26pm ET): This a bold statement, but a checkered flag today at Phoenix will provide some validation for the youngster. He seems determined to make that happen.

Lap 160 (5:15pm ET): Well, that’s one way to cool down I guess.

Lap 150 (5:09pm ET): Chase Elliott nabs Stage 2 victory, earning Chevrolet their first Stage win of the season. No. 24 and the rest of the field gear up for 162 more laps at Phoenix International Raceway.

Lap 118 (4:54pm ET): No joy for LaJoie at Phoenix today. This is the second time that the rookie has gotten into the wall since the green flag dropped. He will not return.

Lap 105 (4:45pm ET): Kyle Busch and Joey Logano seem to be getting along just fine. For now…

Lap 78 (4:33pm ET): Kurt Busch’s difficult day in the desert continues.

Lap 75 (4:26pm ET): Joey Logano takes the first stage of the day. No. 22 has led for most of the day so far. Kyle Busch running in the top 5 is something to keep an eye on. Their feud may rear its head if they get close.

Lap 50 (4:15pm ET): Team Penske drivers continue early-season domination as action continues to heat up in the desert. 25 laps to go in Stage 1.

Lap 28 (4:02pm ET): LaJoie’s bad luck continues today at Phoenix. The youngster will remain in the race despite hitting the wall.

Lap 1 (3:52pm ET): And we’re green at Phoenix. Let’s go racing!

Countdown to Green (3:44pm ET): Which will be hotter at Phoenix? The weather or Kyle Busch’s temper?

Countdown to Green (3:40pm ET): Ladies and gentleman, it is almost that time. The second race of NASCAR Goes West is about to begin. 312 laps in the desert!

The Camping World 500 at Phoenix International Raceway

NASCAR Goes West continues this Sunday in the desert as drivers travel to Phoenix Raceway. Kevin Harvick has dominated in the ‘Grand Canyon State’ of late, having won 5 of the past 7 Cup races run on the one-mile track. No. 4 will certainly be a driver to keep an eye on, but most of the attention on Sunday will be placed on the ongoing feud between Joey Logano and Kyle Busch. After the last-lap spin and out and ensuing brawl on pit road, Busch said that Logano is ‘going to get it’. Will No. 18 exact his revenge at Phoenix? Catch all the action live on FOX, and check back here for highlights, updates, and live lap-by-lap analysis. The green flag is set to drop at 3:30pm ET.
