I was almost certain that Tony Romo was going to be traded from the Cowboys. That was until the 14-year veteran posted this video.
Aside from constantly glancing at his phone, as if he were doing an Adam Schefter impersonation, notice that Romo never actually says, ‘Goodbye.’ Instead he uses the phrase, ‘I’ve got a lot to think about.’ I can’t imagine a more difficult decision than to start for a potential playoff team elsewhere or ride the bench for the franchise where you’ve spent your entire career.
Let’s not forget that the Cowboys were three points shy of making the NFC Championship game last season. It’s not easy to walk away from a team that’s poised to make another run at the Super Bowl.
We know that Jerry Jones would love to have No. 9 as insurance, just in case something goes wrong with Dak Prescott, but only time will tell how this one shakes out. Until then, I guess we will have to sit tight and let Bob Dylan play.
