According to The L.A. Times, Maureen McCormick traded sex for cocaine and wasted her post “Brady Bunch” career hooked on drugs. Confirming whispered rumors that have dogged her for years, she admits in a shocking tell-all book that her perpetually upbeat teen icon character was really her polar opposite.
In her new memoir “Here’s the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice” McCormick reveals she lead an off-screen life of non-stop debauchery and drug-fueled promiscuity. “As a teenager, I had no idea that few people are everything they present to the outside world,” writes McCormick, now 52, “yet there I was, hiding the reality of my life behind the unreal perfection of Marcia Brady.”
She also dishes the long suspected details of her real-life romance with TV brother Greg Brady (Barry Williams): “We couldn’t hold back any longer,” she writes of their “Brady Bunch” filming in Hawaii. “It was our first kiss, and it was long, passionate and deep. It was wonderful, too, though as we continued to kiss and press against each other so closely that we could feel each other’s body heat, a part of me — a tiny part, admittedly — said to myself, ‘Oh my God! I’m kissing my brother. What am I doing?'”
Where was Alice when we needed her most?
Thankfully, after so much time, most of the dirt has been washed away and McCormick has been popping up on the tube successfully recapturing some of her former wholesomeness, most recently on “Outsider’s Inn.”
