In one of the most memorable Golden Globes acceptance speeches ever, Tina Fey thanked all the usual suspects but then went on to tell those few detractors of her work to “suck it.”
Viewers who hate Liz Lemon? As Jerry wouldn’t say, “who are these people?”
“Some points of clarification, though. Two of the three commenters Fey called out in her speech (video above) are the same person — “dianefan” used to be “cougar-letter.” And the third, “BabsonLacrosse,” totally got caught in the crossfire.”
Now that dianefan has been outed, is she more contrite? Hell no, that would be boring. Here’s her comment soon after the speech:
“I’m famous. She mentioned BabsonLacrosse too. Sorry Tina Fey but I still don’t think you deserved to win.”
Work it dianefan!
The controversy continues on Gawker where a new round of Tina Haters is cropping up. Here’s an entry from this morning:
“Fey is an awesome, brilliant writer and “30 Rock” is the greatest, but really she is not a particularly good actress.”
Oh well. The bloom is off the rose. Our only hope is that Sarah Palin does something really stupid, or better yet – illegal!
If you missed it, here’s Tina Fey’s acceptance speech in its entirety:
“I want to say thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press. I’ll always love the Hollywood Foreign Press and have all the Hollywood Foreign Press action figures. Thank you, Will Arnett, for that joke. But I want you to really know how lucky I am to have the year I’ve had this year and, if you ever start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the Internet! You can find a lot of people there who don’t like you! I’d like to address some of them now! BabsonLacrosse, you can suck it. DianeFan, you can suck it. Cougar Letter, you can really suck it ’cause you’ve been after me all year. And to my husband, Jeff, I love you. Thank you very much! “
