Meet Talita Silva, intern extraordinaire and one of the stars of Running in Heels. The show is the Style Network’s fabulously fierce behind-the-scenes look into Marie Claire magazine, and Talita is the West Coaster with the smoldering hot looks who stomps into her first day in New York City in a pair of short-shorts, a tiny dog, and an LA attitude. We caught up with Talita to see if that strong personality brought out the best– or worst– in her.
Name: Talita Silva

On getting the internship…
I was working for a clothing company at the time, Guess Jeans, and I had been there for two years. However, I wasn’t using my creative energy to the full extent. I wanted to learn more about the publishing world. I applied for the internship. So not only was a able to come out here and do the internship in New York City, but I got to work at an amazing magazine.
On changing her career path…
I came into this internship wanting to do strictly fashion. It was my thing and it was what I had experience with. I thought I wanted to style or be a fashion editor of some sort. Through my experiences with the internship, I realized that there’s so much more to it. I was open to new things so I discovered that I’m really into journalism. I love interviewing and writing and getting into people’s lives
On the frustrating side of interning…
I worked really, really hard every day. This was an amazing opportunity and I didn’t want it to go to waste. And I also really wanted to get a job out of this. If not getting a job, then definitely making my mark and having a good reputation in this industry. The hardest part for me was feeling like I put so much into it and trying to impress the editors, and at the end of the day it wasn’t enough. I would jump through hoops and people will see that on the show. It was like sweating blood.

On the glamorous side of interning…
When I first starting the internship it was during fashion week. I was thrown right into the tank of sharks. I had no idea what I was doing… I was a rookie. It was really like living in a fantasy. It was surreal. Sometimes I have to pinch myself and say “Oh my gosh, did I really just meet Roberto Cavalli?” It’s out of this world.
On her shoe obsession…
I can’t afford to buy the latest designer shoes. I’m still 24 and just finished an internship. I have a collection of vintage shoes and designer shoes that I’ve gotten at a Barney’s warehouse sale. I have a pair of Chloe shoes that are chunky platform type, but sometimes I like to be in flats. My shoes take up most of the space in my apartment!
On why people should watch the show…
There’s a little bit of something for everybody. There’s definitely going to be different personalities in terms of the interns and the staff at Marie Claire. It’s a behind-the-scenes of what it’s like working in a magazine. It’s nothing like any other show on TV in terms of covering a magazine. You have three girls who are completely different from each other together in an apartment to work at the same place. You’re going to get the real deal.
