Tuned In: What’s Hot, Hotter And Definitely Not Happening In TV

What’s Hot: Sunday Ratings

President Obama’s media tour continued with a stop at “60 Minutes,” and the sitdown with Steve Kroft helped CBS take the nightly ratings crown. At least 16 million viewers watched the interview, which lifted “Amazing Race” and “Cold Case” to strong numbers as well. “Desperate Housewives” won the 9pm hour for ABC (RIP, Edie Brit?) while “Brothers and Sisters” and “The Unit” battled it out in the 10pm slot to a near draw.

What’s Hotter: Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica” bowed out to big numbers last Friday night for Sci Fi, pulling in close to 2.4 million viewers (1.5 million in the coveted 18-49 demo), which was the most watched episode of the series in over three years. The numbers were a 56 percent increase over last season’s finale. The two-hour finale wrapped things up nicely for long time fans, but feat not there will still be “Battlestar” TV movies and the upcoming prequel series “Caprica” starring Polly Walker (“Rome“) and Esai Morales (“La Bamba”).

What’s Definitely Not Happening:

Kings” was down from its two-hour premiere last week on NBC, and again finished fourth in its timeslot. Ambitious series like this deserve to be rewarded with more than 5 million viewers, and it’s a sad fact of the TV world today. Sure, “Kings” isn’t the most polished show yet, but it has great potential and actors, and now it’s uncertain if we’ll even get to see the entire first season play out. Please NBC, have patience with this one, remember that tactic paid off for “The Office” and “30 Rock,” which didn’t exactly light the world on fire with their initial numbers, either.
