‘Pretty Wicked’ Statistics, Beals’ New Guest Role, ‘South Park’ Tackles Finance, Octo-Mom To Dr. Phil (Again), And More

Here are today’s news bits:

Beals Lies To You: She’s been a dancer and a lesbian, and now Jennifer Beals takes on the role of mother and ex-wife. The famed ‘Flashdance’ actress will have a guest role on ‘Lie to Me,’ where she will play Zoe Landau, an Assistant U.S. Attorney who is also Lightman’s (Tim Roth) ex-wife and Emily’s mother. The episode airs April 29 at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT on Fox.

Parenthood Adapted to TV: Peter Krause and Maura Tierney will star in NBC’s Parenthood, based loosely on the Steve Martin and Dianne Wiest 1986 film of the same name. Craig T. Nelson and Dax Shepard may also join the pilot, which already counts Mae Whitman and Sarah Ramos in the cast. The series is a family comedy that follows the life of Adam Braverman, a borderline lunatic father, his sister, played by Tierney, and the rest of the strange family.

From Tween Star To Corporate Shill: Amanda Bynes is returning to television with ‘Canned,’ a new series on ABC. She will portray a hard-working Midwestern girl who is laid-off at her cushy corporate job, along with her friends.

Dr. Phil Hosts Octo-Mom…Again: The Octo-Mom, Nadya Suleman, will appear on today’s Dr. Phil show, along with Angels in Waiting, the nanny company that was providing her with free baby care services but that she promptly fired. Suleman alleges that the women were spying on her and filing secret reports with the Department of Child Services.

South Park Savior: South Park will tackle the economy on this week’s new episode, when Randy steps forward and becomes a “money guru.” The whole town follows his harebrained scheme “to live a life that no longer depends on any economy at all.” But an unlikely savior sacrifices himself for the good of the economy. Something tells us his name will be Kenny, and he will be killed.

Pretty Wicked: Did you know that some women would rather win America’s Next Top Model than the Nobel Peace Prize? These are probably the same women that will be competing in Oxygen’s ‘Pretty Wicked,’ a series that will pit 10 women against each other with tasks that will “beautify” their insides and their outsides. The series premieres March 31 at 11pm.
