‘Angel’ Star Andy Hallett Dies at 33

Andy Hallett, best known as the green demon Lorne on ‘Angel,’ died Sunday of heart failure in Los Angeles. He was 33 years old.

Hallett passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital with his father by his side after a five-year battle with heart disease, his agent Pat Brady confirmed to E!Online.

A private funeral is planned in the actor’s hometown of Cape Cod later in the week.

Rumor has it that ‘Buffy’ creator Joss Whedon came across Hallett singing at a nightclub where Whedon was struck with the idea for “Lorne.” Whedon then asked Hallett to audition for the part and, the rest, as they say, is history. He then became a series regular near the end of the fourth season and has two songs (“Lady Marmalade” and “It’s Not Easy Being Green”) on the Angel: Live Fast, Die Never soundtrack, released in 2005.

Hallett costarred on ‘Angel,’ a spinoff of ‘Buffy, the Vampire Slayer,’ from 2000 to 2004.
