Louis Leterrier, director of The Incredible Hulk and The Transporter, is currently working on a reimagining of the 1981 classic Clash of the Titans, and Bond Girl Gemma Arterton is on board for the revamp. Those looking for a straight remake of the ancient tale of Perseus and his epic quest to kill Medusa and the Kraken can think again, as Arterton says “the script is very different.” She’s playing Io, who wasn’t even in the original film. “Obviously the story is the story, but it’s much more about Perseus’ mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that, so it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that.”
Sam Worthington, the beefy star of Terminator: Salvation, is in the lead role as Perseus, and Zeus (who, incidentally, turns the beautiful Io into a cow to hide his lust object from his wife in the real Greek mythology) was supposed to be played by Liam Neeson, but his recent tragedy has put that in doubt.
