As part of Paley Fest ’09 on Saturday night, cast and crew from the reincarnated ‘90210’ chatted about the juicy show. Shenae Grimes (Annie), Jessica Stroup (Silver), Matt Lanter (Liam), Ryan Eggold (Ryan Matthews), Rob Estes (Harry, the Dad), and executive producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair walked the red carpet and later took part in an animated panel discussion.
The cast first sat through an episode directed by ‘Melrose Place’ O.G. Rob Estes, which will air April 21. If you go back enough to remember ‘Melrose Place,’ you might recall that Estes also tried his hand at directing an MP episode. “Yeah, years, years ago,” he said about his shot. “No, the technology has changed, the way things work. We had rain, that was the same, though. It was great. So we got out the umbrellas. Those work the same, umbrellas.”
The panel was moderated by none-other than Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (of Juno fame, for all of you living under a rock). Cody has a cameo in the “Okaeri, Donna!” episode slated for April 14, where she asks Tori Spelling’s character to design a dress for her. “It was hard,” Cody said. “I played myself, and I’ll never act again. I promise. But I love ‘90210!’”

And will we ever see Dustin Milligan (Ethan Ward) again? This season will mark his last, after a memorable stint as Annie’s (Shenae Grimes) boyfriend – who somehow became too enlightened for his girlfriend after a rough car accident. “There is not a situation in which I can see him returning,” said show runner Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair – which is unfortunate, since we were just starting to warm up to the popular lug.
