There’s good news in Duggar-land.
The oldest of the Duggar’s 18 children, 21-year-old Joshua, and his wife, Ann, 20, are expecting a baby. It’s their first – and the first grandchild for the stars of ‘18 Kids & Counting.’
“I am very excited and am learning new ways every day that I can be there for my wife,” Joshua told People magazine. “I thought that she would be the only one going through the emotions of pregnancy, but I’m right there with her.
“We are really excited about being grandparents,” Jim Bob Duggar says. “We think it is really going to be easier than being parents.”
According to a story on the Duggar family in the new issue of People, Anna was too nervous to check the results of the home pregnancy test. Joshua looked and announced the good news to the entire family, including his wife. “You’re joining the Mommy Team,” he said.
The Duggars have become a true pop culture phenomenon. The patriarch and matriarch of this large—and still growing—group are former high school sweethearts, Jim Bob and Michelle.
Their 18th child, Jordyn-Grace, was born December 18, 2008. Below is the episode of ’18 Kids & Counting” that showed the Duggars bringing Jordyn-Grace home from the hospital.

On their website, the Duggars describe themselves as “ordinary people with our individual weaknesses and imperfections” and very connected to their strong faith.
All the Duggar children have names beginning with a J. Besides Josh and Jordyn-Grace, the others are Jana, 19; John-David, 19; Jill, 17; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 15; Joseph, 14; Josiah, 12; Joy-Anna, 11; Jeremiah, 10; Jedidiah, 10; Jason, 8; James, 7; Justin, 6; Jackson, 4; Johannah, 3; and Jennifer, 2.
Josh, who works at a car dealership in Springdale, Arkansas, said he and his wife have not yet picked out a name. But they probably want to break from the family tradition.
“We’re pretty sure we’re not going to go with J,” he said.
