Britain’s Got Talent and YouTube sensation Susan Boyle has unveiled a brand-new look –one that’s dare we say it –hip.
The matronly looking Boyle was spotted wearing a leather jacket and colorful print-patterned dress, a far cry from the dowdy frock she wore during her ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ audition. And her frizzy hair? It’s coiffed. Per reports, she’s also contemplating losing weight.
“I will need to sort out my dress sense and my weight,” a British website had her saying. “It wasn’t until I saw myself on TV that I realised how frumpy I was. It’s not a big thing, it doesn’t worry me too much, but I will be doing a bit more exercise to help me sort it out.”
But will her new image alienate those that fell in love with the 48 year old virgin’s down to Earth appearance in the first place? After all beyond her stellar pitch-perfect voice, Boyle is most notable for providing a refreshing reality check in such an image-conscious industry. Boyle’s vocal prowell might have won over the once-snickering crowd and left the judges’ jaws agape, yet it was her disarming authenticity that provided the impetus for the shock, awe and inspiration of 100 million YouTube viewers.
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Amanda Holden even implored Susan to stay the way she was and resist a pop star makeover. Holden also claimed that the makeover is not being planned by the show.
“We’ll keep her as she is for now so she doesn’t have the added pressure of worrying about what she looks like,” the blond judge said Friday on the Today show. “She’ll just be the down-to-earth girl whom we have all kind of fallen in love with.”
Looks like her advice isn’t being heeded.
