iTunes Gaff Reveals ‘Idol’ Secret?

A goof in Apple’s iTunes Music Store revealed, for the first time, sales information for the studio versions of “American Idol‘s” Season 8 finalists’ songs, giving a glimpse at who could wind up in the finale.

The secret list, which is kept confidential because “American Idol” producers fear that it will give a sense of who is most popular and, therefore, influence the voting.

M.J. Santilli, who runs mjsbigblog, wrote in the New York Post that the list was visible on iTunes at some point last week and there was a bit of a surprise.

Unsurprisingly, breakout star Adam Lambert had the most songs on the Top 10 “Idol” sales list, with six of his songs making the cut. But it was Kris Allen who gave him the biggest run, with three of his songs on the the Top 10 list. Danny Gokey had just one, “Endless Love,” on the list and the other two remaining finalists, Allison Iraheta and Matt Giraud, had none.

Adam’s “Mad World” was the biggest seller overall, and Kris’ “Falling Slowly” was his best performer, coming in at No. 3. Gokey’s “Endless Love” placed ninth.

Simon Made Lil Rounds ‘Cry Like a Baby’: Seventh-place finisher Lil Rounds told the AP that Simon’s scathing criticism may have influenced the voters to stop dialing in for her, and that it was often just plain difficult to take.

“I will admit there were a couple times where I would just cry like a baby because I felt like I went out there and was giving my all and it kept getting pushed down,” Lil said.

Slash to Visit for Rock Week: Former Guns ‘n’ Roses guitarist Slash wrote on Twitter that he’ll be appearing on “Idol” for rock week, which would presumably be next week. This week’s theme is “Rat Pack standards” and the Top 3 is usually reserved for judges’ and producers’ picks.
