Is it any surprise that Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies) returned to the island just when things started continued to get wacky? The answer is no. Tonight’s 100th episode, “The Variable,” is being touted as a “companion piece” to last season’s “The Constant,” an episode in which Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) encountered time-shifting turbulence on his way to the freighter, only to discover that he is Faraday’s own “constant.” So just how turbluent will tonight’s episode be? “We’re not promising any big whiz-bang flash pyrotechnics,” Executive Producer Damon Lindelof said in an interview, but expect several Faraday-related mysteries to be revealed.
