Guide: This Week’s Best Of The TV Guest Stars

It’s that time again – time to run down the who’s who of guest stars taking over our favorite shows this week. As if the suspense of season finales isn’t enough, how about adding people like Mekhi Phifer, Stewie Griffin, Henry Winkler, and Richard Dreyfuss into the mix? Who ever said that the small screen of TV wasn’t glamorous needs to take a note from them, because this week Phifer plays an FBI agent on Lie to Me, Stewie Griffin is getting live action on Bones, Henry Winkler is a murder suspect on Numb3rs, and Dreyfuss is stepping in to voice over Family Guy. Speaking of voice over, read on for the big name breaking Maggie Simpson’s silence this week!

Rules of Engagement (CBS, 9:30) – Adhir Kalyan returns as Russell’s Assistant, Timmy, on this episode that debates the age old question, which is better – single, engaged, or married?

CSI Miami (CBS, 10 pm) – Kamar de los Reyes guest stars as Jason Hurston on this “Collateral Damage” episode where the team investigates a seemingly normal family targeted in a grenade attack. What is seemingly normal anyway?

Medium (NBC, 9 pm) – Tracy Pollan and David Morse star in this two hour episode where Pollan, aka Mrs. Michael J. Fox, plays a psychic who lures Allison to the corporate psychic world run by Morse’s character. See, even psychics sell out in a recession.

One Tree Hill (CW, 9 pm) – Nineties favorite Daphne Zuniga is back on TV on One Tree Hill. She returns as Brooke’s estranged mother Victoria, who grows close to Sam.

NCIS (CBS, 8 pm) – Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J return for the second installment of this spin-off episode alongside Louise Lombard, Peter Cambor, and Daniela Ruah, where we’ll all decide whether this one should sink or swim.

Lie to Me (Fox, 8 pm) – Mekhi Phifer comes on board for a two episode arc as an FBI agent who teams up with the Lightman Group for their “toughest case yet.” Until the next one, anyway.

Scrubs (ABC, 8 pm) – In this season finale (or possible and likely series finale), over 50 past guest stars return including Amy Smart, Michael McDonald, Nicole Sullivan, Tom Cavanaugh, Katheryn Joosten to help J.D. say goodbye from Sacred Heart. Tune in for those cameos and whether we’ll learn the janitor’s real name and see if J.D. gets that long awaited hug from Dr. Cox.

CSI NY (NBC, 10 pm) – Charles S. Dutton appears as an ex-con who served time for a crime he didn’t commit and Mare Winningham as the grieving mother who wants revenge. On a lighter note, we’ll also see the birth of the first CSI baby!

Bones (Fox, 8 pm) – This Family Guy crossover episode features the diabolical baby, Stewie Griffin, as the imagined love child of Brennan and Booth as they ponder having a child together. Although, shouldn’t an image of Stewie make you want to run screaming from baby making territory? This animated and live action crossover has a modern day Mary Poppins look with way more inappropriate humor.

My Name is Earl (NBC, 8 pm) – Geraldo Rivera returns for part two to reveal the truth to a shocking disappearance. Could Nascar driver Michael Waltrip be involved? He’s guest starring as well.

Ugly Betty (ABC, 8 pm) – A karate kid no more, Ralph Macchio joins the team and recruits Hilda to be a part of his political campaign.

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, 9 pm) – Technically, guest stars for this episode are still TBD, but it is the 100th episode, and the big wedding day for Meredith and Derek. Who do YOU think might come and help celebrate? We’re putting money on Jeffrey Dean Morgan who posed for 100th show promo pics. Plus our sleuthing says he’s the reason this episode has Izzie fearing the worst when familiar symptoms return. Like seeing your dead fiancĂ©?

30 Rock (NBC, 9:30 pm) – Alan Alda and Steve Buscemi guest star in this episode which has Jack searching for his father. Come to think of it…does 30 Rock ever NOT have a big name celebrity guest star?

Numb3rs (CBS, 10 pm) – Henry Winkler reprises his role as disgraced FBI agent Roger Bloom who is suspected of robbing a series of banks in this 100th episode.

Cold Case (CBS, 9 pm) – Pearl Jam music and Daniel Baldwin are back for part two of this season finale episode proving TV is never conventional with music as a guest star here, and an animated baby on the live action drama, Bones, earlier this week. What’s next? The Muppets?

The Simpsons (FOX, 8 pm) – It’s happening! Maggie is breaking her silence, again! And she sounds a hell of a lot like Jodie Foster. Because in this case, Foster is getting animated as the voice of Maggie as part of a fantasy sequence. She’ll voice Maggie as an idealistic architect protagonist from Ayn Rand’s “The Fountainhead” in the episode where Marge and Lisa tell tales of famous women in history.

Family Guy (FOX, 9 pm) – Richard Dreyfuss narrates this episode where Peter imagines himself within three Stephen King novels.

Brothers & Sisters (ABC, 10 pm) – Balthazar Getty returns for the season finale as disgraced Tommy Walker who ran away to Mexico. Apparently he hasn’t heard about the swine flu because it seems he has no interest in returning.

That’s it for now, but check back for next week’s edition, which will be chock full of season finale guest stars!
