Twilight star Robert Pattinson goes in a vastly different direction than his sparkly vampire fame as he steps into the role of a young surrealist painter Salvador Dali, arriving at university in Madrid in 1922 and starting to find his artistic voice alongside poet Federico Garcia Lorca (Javier Beltran) and filmmaker Luis Bunel (Matthew McNulty). The trio forms an ultra-modern artistic enclave, and the friendship between Lorca and Dali grows deeper and deeper.

Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton stars in a role starkly different from Karen Crowder of Michael Clayton, despite the similar theme of desperate women turning to crime. Here, she’s playing an “out of control, suicidal, blind alcoholic” who hits rock bottom, and then gets herself involved in a kidnapping & extortion plot as a means to turn her luck around. Things like this never work how they’re supposed to, though, and Julia winds up on the run for her life. She then has to decide whether or not the life she has is a life she even wants to save.
