LL Cool J Knocks Out CBS Audience: Actor/rapper LL Cool J shook up the advertising, suit-wearing crowd at CBS’s upfront presentation at Carnegie Hall with a rousing performance of his classic hit “Mama Said Knock You Out.” LL got the ladies (and many fellas) on their feet during his performance and gave CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler a big hug as he exited the stage. LL will co-star with Chris O’Donnell in ‘NCIS: Los Angeles,’ which premieres this Fall on the network, airing Tuesday nights at 9pm after the flagship ‘NCIS.’
Ray Romano’s Return to TV: Earlier Wednesday morning at the Turner Entertainment upfront at Hammerstein Ballroom, Ray Romano stole the show with co-stars Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula. The trio star in ‘Men of a Certain Age,’ debuting in December on TNT, which showcases three friends and what their life is like once they start to get…a little older. The threesome’s chemistry was evident on stage when they joked around, interacted, and had the advertisers and media in the crowd roaring. The clips shown of the series showed great promise, and it will great to see Romano back on TV where he belongs later this year.
Show to Watch – Undercover Boss: Although it won’t premiere until midseason on CBS, ‘Undercover Boss’ generated an overwhelmingly positive response from the crowd after screening clips of the series at CBS’s upfront Wednesday. The concept is that a CEO/President of a company will go “undercover” and get down and dirty with the rank and file workers in their company, taking on tasks varied and small. Seeing the CEO’s eyes opened to what really goes on in his business and the changes he instituted due to what he learned was truly heartwarming. This one could just be a sleeper hit for CBS in midseason.
