“Twilight” Sweeps MTV Movie Awards

To the surprise of absolutely no one, glitter-sparkle vampire flick Twilight swept the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, winning in five categories. It won so many golden popcorn trophies that they couldn’t hold on to all of them, as Kristen Stewart bobbled and dropped her award for Best Female Performance in the middle of her speech. High School Musical 3: Senior Year nabbed two awards as well.

Andy Samberg definitely pulled off the hosting duties well, with some amusing songs including “Cool Guys Don’t Look At Explosions.” LeAnn Rimes, Chris Isaak and Forest Whitaker took the lyrics out of Samberg’s playbook and did a musical medley of The Lonely Island’s classic SNL digital short songs. But the most startling moment of the show came when Sacha Baron Cohen dressed as a bare-butt angel came flying on a harness and then dropped directly onto Eminem in the crowd, who got audibly and visibly angry and immediately walked out of the show.
