Ovation TV will premiere an hourlong documentary featuring the life of Academy Award-winning actor, Heath Ledger who died in January 2008 from an accidental drug overdose.
“Throughout his short career, Heath Ledger seemed a star destined to burn brightly and leave a lasting mark,” said Kris Slava, senior vice president of programing for Ovation TV via a statement. “This documentary is a warm, honest portrayal of the actor and the man, and features footage that has never been seen in America.”
As part of its “Live Fast, Die Young” series, the cable channel will focus on superstars whose lives ended way too early – they include Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and John Belushi.
Seems to me Heath Ledger is a little out of place here. Not because he doesn’t fit – the dude was a star – just that the other icons on this list seem like the same old (and I mean “old”) “die early” bunch.
The Ledger doc will air in August.
