Another ‘Saturday Night Live‘ character is going on a big-screen adventure.
Will Forte will star in and co-write the script for a movie based on his ‘SNL’ character ‘MacGruber,’ a parody of ’80s action series ‘MacGyver‘ that’s been a hit skit since it debuted in 2007.
‘SNL’s’ main vein of comic brilliance Kristen Wiig will costar as her sidekick character, Vicki.
Val Kilmer and Ryan Phillippe are in discussions to join the cast, according to Variety.

If ‘MacGruber’ goes down in flames, which is typical for the blundering spy guy, it won’t be a surprise.
The venerable late-night sketch show has had mostly unimpressive results in transforming notable skits into feature films, ‘Wayne’s World’ being the exception. Other ‘SNL’ characters who got their own movies: Tim Meadows’ ‘Ladies Man;’ Molly Shannon’s ‘Superstar’ Mary Katherine Gallagher; Al Franken’s Stuart Smalley; Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan’s tragic ‘A Night at the Roxbury;’ and even 1993’s ‘Coneheads.’
