Legendary newsman Walter Cronkite was remembered today at a funeral service at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Midtown Manhattan. Speakers included his son, Chip, and longtime friend Andy Rooney (they were young reporters together in World War II), who left the lectern after saying, ““I just feel so terrible about Walter’s death that I can hardly say anything.” Katie Couric, Dan Rather and Barbara Walters were among those paying their respects. “I’m just a reporter,” Cronkite was remembered telling his children.
