‘Screech’ Tell-All Book Hits The Shelves, Gosselaar Unconcerned

Dustin Diamond, better known as Screech in the teen hit, ‘Saved By The Bell,’ is ready to spill the beans on the celebs he shared the screen with. And one of his co-stars couldn’t care less.

Diamond’s purported tell-all book ‘Behind The Bell’, which US Weekly says is set to be released September 29, is rumored to contain stories of  “sexual escapades among cast members, drug use, and hardcore partying.” However, Gotham, Diamond’s original publishing company that released the description, has since dropped him. Instead, a Montreal-based publisher has picked up the manuscript and is ready to release it to millions of gossip-hungry ‘Saved By The Bell’ fans around the world.

What does co-star Mark-Paul Gosselaar, now a TV star in his own right, have to say about the book? He gave Newsweek a lengthy – and angry response. “What is he going to say? We were banging groupies at 14?” he said. “I can’t wait to read his book, because I don’t have a memory of a lot of the shows. Maybe it was because I was doing lines off of the audience members’ asses. I’m sure he’s going to write something crazy like that. The truth is?the reason why the show worked and why it’s still on today?we were good people and good to each other. We were innocent, naive kids. We were not jaded. So him writing a book, I’m not really afraid of what he has to say. There are not too many skeletons in my closet.”

Gosselaar also had scathing things to say about his former friend’s personal problems, which included massive debts, losing his house, and meltdowns on reality shows like ‘Celebrity Fit Club.’ “That’s a disaster on so many levels,” said Gosselaar. “I don’t know where his head is. I know probably as much as you know from watching things on TV. It’s as entertaining as hell. I watch it. But it’s not great.”
