Day 10 of the semi-annual Television Critics Association press tour was all about Fox, as the top-ranked network in the coveted 18-49 demo highlighted their new and returning shows. The day kicked off with a ‘Simpsons‘-themed breakfast commemorating the 20th anniversary of the landmark animated series. Yes, donuts were served (mmm, donuts) as larger-than-life Marge, Homer, Maggie and the rest of the family roamed the lobby taking pictures with the assembled press.
So You Think You Can Dance:
‘So You Think You Can Dance‘ crowns its winner tonight among Janine, Brandon, Evan and Kayla. Host Cat Deeley, judges Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe, along with frequent judge/choreographer Adam Shankman spoke about the show’s upcoming fall season as well as rumors that Paula Abdul might be headed to the show. Before the panel started, season five contestants Philip, Ade, Melissa, Jason and Caitlin performed some of their most memorable dances.
Fox Executive Session:
Peter Rice and Kevin Reilly opened their executive session by addressing the Paula Abdul departure from ‘American Idol,’ but that didn’t stop the barrage of questions about Ms. Abdul during the packed session. Rice confirmed that Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry are the two celebrity guest judges confirmed so far, and he hopes to lock in more soon.
The Cleveland Show:
The buzz continues to get stronger and stronger for the most talked about show of the new fall season, ‘Glee.’ After catching the next two episodes I can tell you the pace definitely picks up, it gets sassier, and the musical numbers continue to impress. (Don’t miss an unforgettable ‘Single Ladies’ rendition in the episode “Preggers”.) The ‘Hell’s Kitchen‘ star discussed his upcoming holiday special Gordon Ramsay: Cookalong Live, which will air December 15th at 9pm ET/PT. As an added bonus, the journalists in the room where invited to whip up the Baked Alaska dessert, with all the ingredients and utensils necessary. Despite Chef’s easy instructions and encouragement, I failed utterly at this, barely getting the mess in my whisking bowl to congeal let alone turn white. Good fun, but this is why I don’t cook.
