Narcissistic journalist Robert Downey Jr. has a life-changing experience when he befriends a homeless schizophrenic (Jamie Foxx) who was once a promising cellist at Julliard in this emotional drama.
Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton stars in a role starkly different from Karen Crowder of Michael Clayton, despite the similar theme of desperate women turning to crime. Here, she’s playing an “out of control, suicidal, blind alcoholic” who hits rock bottom, and then gets herself involved in a kidnapping & extortion plot as a means to turn her luck around. Things like this never work how they’re supposed to, though, and Julia winds up on the run for her life. She then has to decide whether or not the life she has is a life she even wants to save.
The Last House on the Left
In this remake of the groundbreaking horror-thriller that made Wes Craven’s career, a family of psychos led by a bastard named Krug (Garret Dillahunt) terrorizes and brutalizes a teenage girl (Sara Paxton) in the woods, and take refuge from the law in her parents’ guest house. When her mother (Monica Potter) and father (Tony Goldwyn) learn the truth, though, parental revenge is bloody murder.
