They’ve been together through thick. And as of last weekend, ‘Biggest Loser‘ couple Nicole Brewer and Damien Gurganious vowed to try it through thin when they exchanged ‘I Do’s’ in Queens, New York, with a traditional ceremony that paid homage to the hit NBC show on which they combined to lose more than 200 pounds while hopefully gaining a longer, healthier lifetime together.

Brewer, who went from a size 24 to a curvy size 8, wore a strapless tulle trumpet Amsale “Eva” gown with a tiered ruffle skirt, which she was given after the dress she originally picked out after getting engaged was too large to wear.

“When I first bought my wedding gown I was a size 24!” she told Fancast. “You could see in those early photos that my body language was like ‘Ok I’m happy, this is a great gown.’ But I wasn’t comfortable.”

The bride’s preparation for the big day included a vigorous exercise routine, including spinning, kickboxing, and as many other classes as possible offered at her local gym. She also signed up for two triathlons. She was so focused that Gurganious dubbed her “G.I. Bride.”

Gurganious, who shrunk from a size 60 tux to a nearly-off-the-rack 42, also lost so much weight that his original wedding band no longer fit.

The ceremony itself paid homage to the spirit of Brooklyn, says Brewer – and ‘Biggest Loser’. “Instead of table numbers, we had street signs with the neighborhoods everyone was from,” she told us. “We also had a separate ‘Biggest Loser’ boulevard for all our friends from the show.”

Fellow ‘Biggest Loser’ contestants Carla, Jerry and Estella from season six were in attendance – and did a lot more than just celebrating. Carla created the bride’s bouquet and also the gorgeous flower decorations that adorned the ceremony. Their wedding bands were presented on a ring pillow beneath a silver serving tray similar to the show’s infamous elimination tray.

At the reception, guests were given the choice between the grilled sirloin with balsamic reduction, chicken with lemon garlic sauce, or salmon with mustard cream sauce, along with a baby greens, tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette. It was all very healthy till dessert.

“But we wanted to go all out for the cake!” she said about the “Biggest Loser’s Praline Bliss” cake which was a decadent bourbon-prailine and sweet potato orange layered cake with vanilla praline butter cream.

The newlyweds danced to Robin Thicke’s “Magic” and Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love.” In one of the night’s more memorable moments, Gurganious , instead of throwing a garter to all the single men, flung an “alternative” garter -an extra large pair of panties! “He made them out of lace and he was sewing and ironing all this time,” Brewer said. ” He wanted to honor me for having lost so many pounds!”

What’s next for the new couple? Damien and Nicole will soon be personal trainers at 24 Hour Fitness. “We’ll be able to pay it forward. When people come to us at the gym, they say how much we inspired them. They have seen our transformation,” she said.

But does Nicole, who is also a stylist for small and plus sized women, feel that she is selling out to larger women, as some have asked? “Absolutely not. I always do whatever I can to help people or inspire people to feel good about themselves. Whether it’s helping them in styling or with fitness, I can do both,” she said. “I want to help women feel good about themselves.”
