It’s a long holiday weekend to sit back and relax, and there’s no better way to do that than chilling out with a pair of chiller movies for free here on Fancast. It’s the great horror debate of the last decade: what’s better, slow shambler zombies or fast, athletic zombies? Zombie master George A. Romero’s seminal 1968 creeper flick Night of the Living Dead kicked off the genre (inspired in part by the ghouls from Carnival of Souls, incidentally), and Romero himself has spoken out against fast zombies. However, when you watch the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, you really can’t deny that the running dead are just as terrifying as the walking dead. Now you can watch them both, back to back, and make your own call.
Night of the Living Dead
A small Pennsylvania town falls victim to an unforseen radiation leak, which mysteriously causes the dead to rise from their graves and walk the earth in search of living people to devour. A group of strangers has holed up in an isolated farmhouse, listening to news reports on how to stop the monsters, but how long can they possibly hold out against the advancing horde?
Dawn of the Dead
Ving Rhames, Sarah Polley, Jake Weber, Kevin Zegers, Matt Frewer, Lindy Booth and Mekhi Phifer all find themselves stranded inside a closed shopping mall, which is their only refuge from the ever-growing horde of fast and furious zombies gathering outside its doors. How long can they survive before they get help… or will rescuers never arrive?
