Larry David recently told Extra that the show will touch on the now infamous Michael Richards incident at the Laugh Factory in 2006, where the comedian yelled racial epithets to African American audience members.
“We’ll deal with it a little on the show,” series creator and star David says.
David reveals that it was Richards who wanted to deal with the issue on ‘Curb.’
He goes on to explain that Richards has had a tough road, “He’s been through a traumatic experience in which he’ll never be the same.”
“He’s a good person,” David says, “He made a terrible mistake and I hope it works out for him.”
Richards hasn’t had a much work since his days on the top rated sitcom, and after the Laugh Factory incident he’s only done voice work in Bee Movie alongside former Seinfeld co-star Jerry Seinfeld.
The new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres this Sunday on HBO.
