Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, best known as Kandi Burruss’ ex fiancé in the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise, was killed Friday night during a brawl at an Atlanta strip club.
After an altercation outside the club with Body Tap employee Fredrick Richardson, Jewell was rushed to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, where he was pronounced dead of head injuries.
Police were still debriefing witnesses and trying to figure out what happened on Saturday when they arrested Richardson on charges of voluntary manslaughter, according to The Atlanta Journal.
Jewell guest starred on the second season of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta.’ Viewers will recall that as Burruss and Jewell prepared for their wedding, her family and friends had serious issues accepting the engagement because of his six children – by four different women. In August, Burruss went on a radio show and said the two were on “hiatus.”
Jewell’s death stunned Burruss.
“I could never n a million years imagine this happening,” she wrote on her Twitter page. “Please pray for AJ’s children. that’s who im the most concerned 4.”
Later, she added, “im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk, i dont wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone.”
‘Housewife’ Kim Zolciak told the Atlanta newspaper that she was “disgusted” and “can’t imagine the loss they’re feeling. I’ll be there for my dear friend Kandi.”
Jewell was part-owner of Body Tap, one of Atlanta’s high end strip clubs.
Richardson was also injured in the brawl and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Upon his discharge, he will be transfered Fulton County Jail, according to reports.
