One of the teens accused of being involved in a celebrity cat burglar caper had fame aspirations of her own.
Alexis Neiers, 18, one of the four teenagers arrested for allegedly breaking in to the homes of Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson and Audrina Patridge, was starring on a reality TV pilot for the E! channel about aspiring actors and their families. She was arrested on the set of the series, the LA Times reports.
Tess and Danielle Taylor, Neiers’ sisters, are also said to be starring on the reality project. The show features the girls and their Playboy model mother, X17 reports. Tess Taylor is herself a Playboy cybermodel. The family lives in Thousand Oaks, an upscale suburb of Los Angeles.
Once E! networks learned of the arrest, they released a statement, saying they were “concerned by recent events, awaiting further details and will be monitoring the situation closely.”
When approached for comment, one of the Taylor sisters said the accusation against the teen was false, and she hoped the network would not pull the plug on the show. “My family is in so much debt,” she said to The Daily Beast. “If this TV show falls through, you don’t know how bad this is going to be.”
So far, four young women and two men have been arrested for the celebrity thefts, which included millions of dollars worth of stolen jewelry, clothing and accessories. The teens allegedly scoped out the items online and in celebrity magazines, using the star’s red carpet photos, and used Star Maps and online tools to find the celebrities’ addresses, cased their homes, and then broke in and took the Hollywood bling.
“This is a no-brains caper. There’s not a lot of self-awareness,” LAPD Det. Brett Goodkin said to the LA Times. “They saw it, they wanted it, they took it and continued taking it.”
