It was just revealed that Will Arnett will step in to woo Amy Poehler’s character, Leslie, on ‘Parks & Recreation.’ But expect to see relationship troubles for the other hard workers of the Pawnee Parks department.
‘Parks and Recreation’ creators Greg Daniels and Michael Schur and stars Amy Poehler and Aziz Ansari were on hand at the Paley Center in Los Angeles on Saturday to dish about the show.
Lesile Knope’s relationship with cop Dave Sanderson (played by Louis C.K.) is going to hit a rough patch, possibly leaving the door open for Arnett’s character. Poehler hinted to us, “You’re going to see in the next couple of weeks, changes happening there. I can’t give it away but it’s going to be heavy, heavy stuff.”
There’s also some drama in store for Aziz Ansari’s character, Tom Haverford, whose green card marriage to his beautiful Canadian wife is headed for divorce. Ansari said we’ll see a much different and perhaps sadder side to his character, and teased that there may even be tears involved.
Will that be a result of the electric attraction between Tom’s wife and his boss Ron Swanson? According to the man who masterfully plays the mustachioed superior, Nick Offerman, “Ron, despite his calm demeanor is a man full of passion and we’ll definitely see more love in his life and probably more violence as well, I’m afraid.”
Offerman’s real life wife, Megan Mullally, recently played Ron’s ex-wife on the show. “I think the brilliant thing about casting a married couple is that it allowed the safety to go really far with each other,” Offerman said of the experience. “They just let us go and I really ripped the table off the wall [laughs].”
But it’s not all bad news for love on ‘Parks and Recreation.’ On the bright side, seeds will be awkwardly planted in this week’s episode for an April/Andy romance.
In addition to her relationship drama, Leslie is going to have another huge problem on her hands. It seems the squeaky clean, mid-level bureaucrat will get involved in a sex scandal. Poehler spills, “There’s an upcoming episode where Leslie has dinner with a councilman. There’s pictures of her and they think she is involved in something nefarious.”
Watch ‘Parks & Recreation’ Thursday nights on NBC.
