Ubiquitous reality show couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were on ‘Live With Regis and Kelly’ this morning to to pitch their new book, How to Be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press, and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture.
The ‘Hills’ villain and his surgically enhanced blond wife kept mum on the rumored plans for their own reality TV show, but did reveal that Pratt’s relationship with Montag was a calculated play for fame.
The Pratt’s ‘Live’ appearance comes after a last minute cancellation of their anticipated interview with Al Roker on the ‘Today Show.’ Last June, Roker bashed the couple for being obnoxious. Montag said his criticism made her cry.
After yesterday’s cancellation, Pratt attempted to get even, tweeting his disdain for Roker: “WEATHERMAN I thought you were out of town today getting your stomach stapled again? You look very sick? Do you always look like your about to die? How old are you 97? You should retire asap- No one would even know?” He also accused Roker of abusing women.
On ‘Live’, Pratt admitted that he enjoys playing the villain. Regis and Kelly asked if he played one or really was one. He stated the latter. He also admitted he dated his now-wife “to be super famous.” Montag said that Pratt’s original plan was to date everyone on the show “but then he fell in love.” Asked where his need to be famous came from, Pratt said that it started “when I first got out of my mother’s womb.”
“My talent is my FAME!” he tweeted following the TV appearance.
He also offered an apology to Roker.
“Dear WEATHERMAN after speaking with Queen Jones and Queen Lara I’m feeling very regretful for saying HATEFULL tweets towards a good man!!”
Question: Is he putting on an act or is really just obnoxious? Even better question: Should we pay attention to Heidi and Spencer – and if so, why?
(Editor’s note: We asked ourselves that question before assigning this post. We’re still trying to figure it out.]
